Vice President, Business Development






The Vice President, Business Development is responsible for managing the language and training pipeline from identification through proposal submission in coordination with the business unit/P&L General Managers. He/She will serve as the lead business development executive for Mission Essential’s Language & Training Solutions business unit.

  • Execute and manage the business development Gate Review process
  • Manage and maintain the language and training pipeline in the Mission Essential CRM tool
  • Collect and track business growth-related metrics and produce growth-related reports, to include but not limited to submissions, awards, win rates, and book-to-bill
  • Collect, manage, and maintain a web-based repository of business growth-related documents, to include bid/proposal debriefs, customer/site visit reports, customer and industry partner capability briefings, conference/event/industry day briefings and reports, etc. 
  • Develop and implement customer/opportunity-specific messaging campaigns to shape and capture new business opportunities
  • Support strategic business development pursuits (e.g., cyber security, counter-intelligence, etc.)
  • Develop and brief Gate Review decision documents and other internal reviews with supporting rationale, to include milestones, metrics, and budgets
  • Develop and maintain strategic industry partnerships; and build and manage large, diverse teams of subcontractors and other partners
  • Communicate value-added differentiators to customers and industry partners
  • Review and develop a detailed understanding of US Government RFPs and other acquisition-related documents
  • Support the development and implementation of capture plans, technical and management approaches, competitive positioning, win and pricing strategies, and proposals in coordination with assigned capture, proposal, pricing, and contracts managers
  • Serve as capture manager as appropriate
  • 20% travel (CONUS and OCONUS)

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Fifteen or more (15+) years of experience
  • Five or more years (5+) in Government Contracting Business Development
  • Must be eligible for a TS/SCI clearance
  • Experience submitting full and open prime opportunities greater than $100M in total contract value
